Well for starters I have a what is suppose to be 2 yr old lineback dun mare. Well I was wondering if anyone knew how to tell an estimate of a horses age by teeth and give me some pointers. The reason is because she is still growing out most of her tail hair, and she has ponyish ways. Not to mention the other day I felt in her mouth and she only has one tooth on top and one tooth on bottom in the back and from some of my other searches those erupt about 9-12 months of age.

The 2nd thing we have a 4 year old paint stud (whose beautiful) he has no go power at all, when spurred he only trotts but doesn't get to fast with it. He has recently recovered from a couple of torn ligaments which he is better now. What can we do to kinda fire him up?

Spurs used to get a horse to move will often result in the opposite reaction. Instead, use a riding crop and give him a light tap on the top center of his rump. Be prepared in case he scoots forward. Allow him to do so because if you stop him by pulling on the reins you will have completely confused him. Just encourage him to keep moving with clicking or kissing sounds.

If so I would not attempt to ride her yet. This could to mess up her legs. So call your vet and see what she/he says about her age go with your gut. Your stallion may be feeligng a little anxiety from his injury. I would get him in contact (not togehter or in same field) to allow him to act like a stallion. This will give him a boost of incourgagment. Also try using a crop this will reallly help him. Though you do not want to scare him but jumping at him to go. I would also try doing alot of trail riding because maybe he is board. I would also try toys in his stall and field. And ride when the weather is neither hot nor cold this will make him feel good and will lift his spirits. Hope it works out!
