Pinal Comprehensive Plan
Press Release
Pinal Preferred Future Workshops
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 18, 2008

In February, six workshops were held to receive input on Pinal County land use and transportation alternatives. Each of the alternatives presented in February addressed the resident-created, Pinal County Vision that is guiding this effort.

After reviewing the input received from participants, we learned the following:
Participants favored the "Corridor Focused" alternative that concentrated significant economic and residential development along the central-Pinal corridors, but they cited the desire to identify some additional development in East County.
Participants agreed that allowing higher-density development in some parts of Pinal County was an acceptable solution to preserving large swaths of open space in the County.
Participants saw a need for both intra- and inter-Pinal transit opportunities, such as bus rapid transit and commuter rail between Phoenix and Tucson.
Participants favor the consideration of a regional commercial airport in central Pinal.

The Pinal County Comprehensive Plan Team has taken this feedback and will be presenting a preferred land use and transportation alternative at six workshops in April. Participants will present the preferred alternative and have the chance to give detailed feedback. The Pinal Preferred Future Workshops are scheduled as follows:
