My mare tripped and busted her but(shes clusmy), she slipped on my wet grass. Well, she hurt her leg and it happened about a month ago. she still limps around just a little, acts a little stiff. its not swollen or anything, but i was wondering if yall think she just pulled a major musle, or tendon. What should i do? Should i just give her a couple of months????? I cant afford a vet.

Was this a front or back leg?
The problem is without a vet exam you cannot tell if she fractured her hip or ulna *front leg is ulna*
Could possibly be she just banged herself good enough but to be honest if she is still lame she needs a vet. Most will work with you on payments.

well i know about not being able to afford a vet but......... sometimes it nessesary. but don't get your hopes down yet. has it swelled? if she's able to walk ok and dosn't seem to be in pain, i might try taking her on in-hand walks. very short but it can help. just keep it very short cause walking to much can make it worse. maybe to you have afriend that could take a look? well hope this helps.

If your horse is in pain (and it sounds like it is - just because there is no swelling that doesn't mean it isn't sore) you need to get a vet to look at it. Most vets will let you pay off bills over time.

If you don't get it dealt with now and its something major, the horse could be ruined for riding (and maybe breeding too) for ever. If you cannot afford a vet then why do you have a horse? When you own a horse you must be prepared to face any expenses, and that includes emergency vet visits. I bet you would find a way to afford a trip to the hospital if you broke your leg.

Without actually seeing your horse, people on here cannot tell what is wrong. Even if they could see her, unless they are vets then they still would not be able to tell. Even if they were vets, unless they could see her 'in person' then they probably still couldn't tell.

You must get a vet, and find a way to pay for it. That is your responsibility as a horse owner. It is not fair to leave your horse in pain.

Good luck, and for your mare's sake I hope you get a vet... and I hope it isn't anything serious.
