Wormer Overdose??

Can an overdose on wormer be dangerous? My horse had to much wormer last night because the groove bit moved. Will this hurt him? I'm having the vet come out but not until Wednesday so I get to worry until then!!

Hi Beth,

There should be no problem since you gave only a small amount more than the prescribed dose and also because you probably based the dosage on an estimated weight for your horse. An extra ounce or less for a 1000 pound horse is nearly nothing.

Hey Beth,
Nothing should go wrong with your horse. At my barn we give some horses wormers for three days, it never makes them sick they just don't have many worms. Good luck with this issue. And if i may state my opinion there is no need to call the vet out there unless there are signs that the horse is being bothered and in pain. Good Luck again...keep us informed about what happens with the vet and what he says!
