AAEC RECEIVES 2009 AYHC PARTNERSHIP AWARD

The American Youth Horse Council (AYHC) Partnership Award recognizes outstanding programs or formal activities that have provided leadership, education and positive inspiration to young people in accordance with the overall mission of the AYHC exemplified by its motto, “Connecting Kids Through Horses.” The Partnership Award will be presented to AAEC at the 32nd Annual National Youth Horse Leader’s Symposium, in Lincoln, Nebraska, March 27, 2009.

The AAEC Equine Studies Program provides unique, broad-based educational opportunities for students having a special interest in horses and the horse industry. Not only is the program designed to provide specialized incentives to keep students engaged and performing well in school ; but is also designed to give students greater access to the horse industry and more preparation for success in the Equine Science, Animal Science, and Veterinary Medicine fields. The Equine Studies Program is an interlocking program specifically developed around the needs and interests of students. The program incorporates academic and extracurricular activities in the high school setting and supports several different areas of interest: Equine Studies Certificate, Horse Judging, Student Horsemen’s Association (SHA), AAEC Equine Extravaganza, university recruitment, competitive event support, and community service. All these areas work together to provide a comprehensive program specializing in helping “connect kids through horses,” educating future horse professionals, developing youth leaders, and promoting the horse industry.

The American Youth Horse Council (AYHC) is the national, umbrella organization providing encouragement, communication, leadership and resources to serve and promote the youth horse industry. AYHC strives to improve communication, provide opportunities for co-operative efforts, illustrate the value of the human-horse experience, and provide factual and quality educational materials and to engage the participation of youth from all breeds and disciplines within the industry.
