Subject: TA 2008006 support as written
Dear Mr. Gerard,
Thank you for all the work you do, and information you provided at the Thursday meeting. Your professional way of presenting information was a highlight of the meeting. As a long time Arizona and Rio Verde Foothills resident I am depending on you supporting the TA 2008006 that gives horsemen the ability to us their property to the fullest.
I am the Rio Verde 4-H Community Leader and a life long horse person. The way the amendment is currently written 4-H would be unable to have meetings or practices on anyone’s property. The TA 2008006 enables 4-H to have practices and meetings. I support the Text Amendment 2008006 as written and submitted.
Participating in the meeting at Planning and Zoning last Thursday was the most frustrating public meeting I have ever attended. I wanted to speak to planning and zoning but would have taken away from the rudely given 20 minutes to present why I personally and representing 4-H support TA 2008006. I felt it more important that the designated speakers be able to speak. What I just can’t understand is that 6 people are opposed (somewhat) to the TA as written. They received 20 minutes also, had incorrect information, very argumentative in their speaking to everyone. Actually, they presented no real opposition. A young lady that is a member of 4-H attended this meeting and left with a negative feeling about how a public meeting was handled, saying that 4-H has better meetings, more open and respectful, than the planning and zoning meeting. The only other public meeting she had attended was to save HorseLovers Park and that meeting was held in an organized respectful manner.
They were only topped by the chairman’s rude way of handing this meeting, by not allowing those wanting to speak, speak. I do not feel it was by accident that there was not enough P&Z for a quorum. Remember, I support the TA 2008006, as written.

14) To Darren Gerard and Don Stapley:
I support the passage of Text Amendment 2008006 in Rural Zoning Ordinance and the rural lifestyle of the Rio Verde Foothills. It is important that this TA is passed and we hope that you will stand behind this Amendment that insures our right to enjoy our properties.
We would like to ask that the 4H activities be an exception to this rule.

17) DEAR SIR I AM WRITING YOU ABOUT THE BILL RETA2008006. I THINK THAT THE BILL SHOULD BE PASSED LETTING PEOPLE WITH 2 ACEER OF LAND TO HAVE 5 HORSE ON THERE LAND WITHOUT THE SPACIAL USE PERMENT. IT WILL HELP PEOPLE TO KEEP THERE HORSE'S AND MAKE USE OF THERE LAND. I WILL BE BUYING HORSE LAND IN NEW RIVER IN A FEWS MONTHS AND I WOULD LIKE TO BEABLE TO HAVE A FEW HORSE'S ON THE LAND TO HELP ME WITH THE COST OF MY HORSE AND TO HELP OUT OTHER WHO CAN NOT AFORD A 500.00 A MONTH BOARD BILL. SO I THINK THAT THE BILL SHOULD BE PASSED AND I HOPEIT DOES PASS. THANK YOU JULIE DENOE
18) Dear Mr. Bak,
I have recently been informed in my community of the passing (or hearing)of an ordinance #TA-2008-006. I am a Desert Hills resident & would like to have my opinion considered at your hearing on Thursday, June 18, 2009.
My wife & I moved to Desert Hills four years ago so we could have our horses on our property. We left a custom home just south of the Boulders Resort in Scottsdale. We moved to Desert Hills because we were told it was a HORSE COMMUNITY & that is what we wanted for our family & horses. I have my horses & family members horses here & we enjoy this community immensely. On occasion we have gotten kids together (grandchildren & friends kids & family) to saddle up the horses & run barrels, run through obstacle courses & just have a good time & play. We have even done a little bit of Cowboy Mounted Shooting practice (with the blessings of our neighbors). We like it here because it is a HORSE COMMUNITY & we should be able do do what we want on our property & to be able to ride out knowing we are safe because other people have horses as well that live around us.
I think this TA-2008-006 is GREAT & my vote is YES, YES, YES!!! We as a community should be able to have horse activities with family & friends whenever we want to (without having to obtain a permit to do so - that is crazy). There are a few people who are strongly opposing this, claimimg that people who have horse activities will not have dust control, manure control, etc...... That is a bunch of crap! I have 11 horses on my property (mine & my grandkids horses) & we clean stalls twice a day, have a four yard dumpster that is picked up regularily & there is no dust problem when we are riding our horses. Those opposed are those who run commercial boarding facilities & feel we should all be paying them to board our horses at their places for rediculous prices. A couple of them specifically want a monoply on this for their own greed & Income potential. They are the people writing you & complaining I am sure.
We should all be able to have our horses & our activities whenever we want. If I want to train my horses on my property, I should be able to do this. Those who do not have horse set-ups should be able to board their horses at a licensed facility (where there could be dozens of horses & we have accepted living in close proximity to them). Why can't we all exist with our horses together, no matter what our situation is & just enjoy our HORSE COMMUNITY. Again that is why we moved here!
My wife & I both vote YES to #TA-2008-006.
Thank You,
H. Silver

I've read the ridiculous whinings of this woman - but I want you all to know that I support Proposition TA-2008-006 completely! I am PRO anything horse related that keeps the lifestyle that I moved here to enjoy. There are plenty of 1 acre parcels dedicated to the non-horse folks and I have no problem with that. But let us horse people enjoy what's left close to where we work and where our children can enjoy a proper education.
Please continue to support this zoning amendment!
Thank you for all your thoughts and support of the rural communities!

I support Proposition TA 2008-006. The hypothetical rantings of an individual should not take presidence over the majority. She would still be able to file a complait of too much noise or dust, etc.. But to complain before anything has talken place is just plain dumb. Maybe she should be a good neighbor and get to know the people who live next to her. Then when her hypothetical situation arose, she could merely call her friend and neighbor to work it out. Novel idea. Dr. Rod Ray
