Portable corral permits
In response to concerns of several District 1 residents, Vice Mayor Thelda Williams asked the Development Services Department to evaluate the need for permits for portable livestock fences. The fences are taken put up and taken down continuously and designed to be safe and secure. Because of the type of use of these fences, residents would need purchased many permits over the year for a temporary fence. The Vice Mayor felt this was a needless requirement and was leading to harassment of Phoenix residents. On May 23, 2011, the city of Phoenix Building Official determined that a permit is not required for the placement of portable livestock fences of any height used as corrals when the following conditions are met:
The placement does not obstruct any required visibility angles.
The placement does not obstruct or occur within any drainage path, retention or detention basin.
The placement does not include any electrified components or elements.
