I have been using a combination of lysol and water as a treatment for my horses thrush and while doing so, found that it helped clear up the scratches on her legs. Could lysol help clear up rainrot as well? Has anyone ever tried this??

Never used lysol....
My mare had rain rot last year that covered her neck. I used expensive horse treatment shampoos that burned her skin.Ouch.....
Seriously I used Shea Butter and it cleared up everything. Its cheap enough and its used for everything from rain rot to simple owies. My new hany treatment. I use it too! :)

Another handy over the counter remedy is listerine (full strenght from the bottom) It clears up everything from rainrot to mange. Don't know why it works (don't really care) but it sure makes me careful not to swallow when I gargle.

Hooves and skin are not the same, I would be very leery of using it without talking to your vet first.

If there are no open sores I use Absorbine Horse Liniment full strength for three days and brush *clean brushes after each use soak in hot water/bleach or liniment* works for my fuzzy ball who got it.
