I have found that very few sites or magazines recommend the EPM vaccine, while everything I have read suggests that it is effective. We live in a hotbed area for this infection, where every possum tests positive for it. I personally know of six horses who have had it, four with permanent damage. The treatment is VERY expensive ($1500/month) and not always successful. Why does no one recommend the vaccine? My vet DOES recommend it and all of my horses get it.
