My horsese (2) started coughing a few days ago. I first thought it was the dust and dirt, so I just cleaned the dirt from their nose. But when I fed this morning, mucus was coming out of my mare's nose.
Should I call the vet out or is it something I could take care of myself??
Please advise. thank you.

I'd call the vet...you never know with all these virus bugs going around....I had a friend lose her mare just like that and the mystery is still going on...yes have a vet check if you love the horse

I think that it could be just a cold... But you should still call the vet ;)

If one horse had it and the other did not, you could assume it was an allergy or a dust issue. With both horses coughing and with nasal discharge you can almost bet money this is something infectious and a veterinary visit is in the cards.
