Hi am starting out looking for a new horse..and want to know what to look for on what a horse should be updated on for shots and worms and whatever his health is in...what is coggins?:confused:

Depends on where you live.
Here it is WEE (Western Equine Encephalitis) EEE (Eastern Equine Encephalitis) Flu, and Tetanus and West Nile Vaccine *WNV* And in the East and West coast I would say Rhino *EHV vaccs*
A coggins shows if a horse has the Equine Infectious Anemia aka EIA you want a horse with a negative one not a positive one, a positive is a sick horse. Please make sure the papers *coggins* matches the horse you are looking at any errors I would avoid the horse as sometimes a negative paper is used on a different horse. Too many bad sellers not to look hard.
As to worming ask when the last time the horse was wormed and with what wormer and how often they have wormed the horse in the past. Also get the horse a pre purchase exam if you can afford one. It will tell if the horse is lame for life. drugged etc.

thank you very much for the info...now i need to know about windsucking..LOL checking on a mare and she does it but not much only when she is standing there
