Ask George a Question

George Fimbres was born July 28, 1968 in Phoeniox, Arizona. He grew up out west, around horses on a small ranch.

While growing up, his family would gather up colts ready to be broke. After they were rounded up, they were run into chutes, loaded onto a trailer and hauled about 5 miles down the wash. Later they were saddled one by one, held still enough to jump on and away George would go in the thick sandy wash, holding on while trying to avoid the mesquite trees and cholla patches.(For those of you who have been drug through cholla patches, you know I mean.) As the deep sand took its toll on the colts, they were turned around and back through the wash you went. Once back, if you were still mounted, you would pull the saddle off, rinse your colt and turn him back out. He was then considered broke.

Well, times have changed and so have George's methods of starting colts. Over the past twenty years George has started colts and rode with some of the best: Dan Manning, Cutting ...Cal Cooper Working Cow Horse. Jack Teague...Reining Mark Sheridan..Western Pleasure Vince Lalor..All Around Cowboy and one hell of a hand..just to name a few. He trained in many disciplines, and learned from each what has worked best for him. He then added many years of his own experiences and created his own unique style of starting colts and fixing problem horses. It didn't take long before other people and trainers started to notice the gift he had with horses.

After many years of hard work, George has become a trainers trainer. He starts Colts and fixes problem horses for professional trainers and backyard horseowners alike.

Jesse James (named for his youngest son) Colt Starting and Horse Behavior Solutions keeps George pretty darn busy these days and he wouldn't have it any other way. In fact, he's outgrown his existing facility and is presently shopping for more property in the more rural areas outside Phoenix Arizona.

When asked what his secrets are to creating good minded and gentle colts and eliminating negative behaviors in mature horses, he replied " It's really quite simple. You must first understand each colt. Each individual's needs and comfort zones are different. Then, you must get into the horses mind, go into his world to understand his language. It's a feel. Once you've gained his trust the sky is the limit!"
