By the way, I am in no way trying to be "ugly" about the first vet. They are wonderful, but they are human and can make mistakes. I think they just missed this one (first time!). Thank you again for your time!
The "new" vet looked at his x-rays meticulously! He showed me in a book of his how my horses x-rays looked perfect. He then did some stretching exercises on him, etc. He spent quite a little bit of time checking my horse out. His diagnosis was "exactly" what you told me! Thank you for your help!!
I e-mailed you and got your response. Because what you had said made more sense to me according to the research I had done, I then took my horse to a different veterinarian that does not live in this area. I took the x-rays with me that the other vet had taken, but did not tell the "new" vet anything I had been told.
Dr. Sales, thank you for your response to my question. I had taken my horse to a veterinarian prior to e-mailing you. The vet took x-rays and stretched him, etc. What they determined was that he had "Degenerative Joint Disease". I took him home and began doing some research on the subject in an effort to understand more clearly. The problem was that the more I researched, the more their diagnosis didn't make any sense.

Thank you for your answer to my query - it was most helpful, as my vet had no dietary advice. I will most certainly try the ammonium salts, as my horse, after multiple lavages, is still dribbling. Thanks again Marianne
"Wow! Thank you so much for the help, for some reason I had this idea in my head it would hurt the mare giving it (regumate) to her that way. But now thanks to your advice I am secure in giving her the regumate orally. Again thank you". - Fred.
"Hi Lisa. Thank you for getting back to me about my new boy. Blaze is doing wonderful... I am enjoying him so much. I could watch him for hours when he is prancing around in the field, he holds his tail soooo high and his mane flows around so thick and shiny... I had a person driving by stop to offer me $1500.00 cash for Blaze. I said to him "Would you sell your child?" He is staying right here with me... I wonder why I never owned a horse before? I missed out on a lot. Across my neighbors fence line lives a team of Percherons. They stroll over to socialize with Blaze daily now that the snow has disappeared... I checked out those websites and am filling my head more and more with co-existing with my new friend. Thanks again". - Aubrey Roberts
Thanks for the advice. I've started putting a heel into him when he tries getting snotty and it seems to have mellowed him out. Last 2 times we've been out there have been no problems. Thanks again, Greg.
Herb, didn't know that the boots were not designed for speed, company literature never said that. After this latest trim he seems to be walking fine. Started using the boots only on hard or rocky ground and outside of slipping in the mud once he seems to be doing good. Thanks for the advice, Greg.
Hi Lisa, I'd like to start by saying that I absolutely LOVE your website -- very informative! I've changed so much after reading your "Natural Environment" article. My horses now stay out 24/7, and are only coming in their stalls to get grain twice a day. I used to stall them every night, but remembering and reminding myself what a horse should be doing naturally truly makes sense. Carrie.
