Thank you for getting back to me. I did phone our Vet and he came out. John did have a reaction but is doing well. Thanks Again, Todd Barnhill
Hello Dr. Sales (March 2005)
Thank you very much for your answer. I have spoken to two of my local vets and you are all in agreement to possible causes. There was not significant blood in her abdomen so I don't think it was a ruptured uterine artery. Either the heart or brain issue you mention more likely the cause. My poor little Sugarbug, I can only console myself that it was extremely quick so she didn't suffer overlong.
Again, thank you for your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Amber

Thank you very much. You helped me. Everyone has told me that, but I live on a farm so I don't really have a spot to start the time to bond a relationship with her at this time. We don't have an inside area or anything and now I am just waiting for it to hopefully warm up. Thank you so much I will definitely put more time aside for her. Thanks again, Mandy

Thank you so much for your reply. This has helped me feel better. I understand colic is a symptom and not a disease itself. Although I am saddened by my mares' death, I understand this is part of life and these things happen. I was just concerned if the first vet should have caught some of the symptoms and should have suggested to bring the horse in. I found out yesterday that he has only been at this clinic six months. But I think your answer is correct and that he felt she was recovering from the colic and I too had hoped this was the case. The good news is I do have her 3-year-old filly that I can now give my full attention to. Thank you again for making me feel better. LaVonne

Thank you for your quick reply. I needed confirmation that I understood the problem as completely as I could. The vet is due back on Friday. I will discuss it further, and come up with the best possible course of action at that time. Thank you again for taking time with me. I will be sure to mention your site to friends!
