For Our Publisher (June 2005)
Hi,
Thank you for replying to my mail so quickly I really appreciate it. We had the vet out this morning and he gave me some antibiotics for him because his glands were swollen and so I'm hoping that in a couple of days or so he will be back to normal. The Vet gave him a couple of injections and Thunder (my horse) came out of his stable for the first time today after he had left so that is a really good sign.
Many Thanks
Charlotte

Thank you so much for your opinion. I have not had this problem in a foal before so was really concerned. After blood test came back, we found she did not get enough colostrum so she was given a mega-vitamin shot and a plasma transfusion. She is now doing well and we moved her outside. Her legs are really much stronger now and the foot is indeed beginning to straiten up. This was my first time to this site and will continue to visit. I have had horses for 41 years and have learned quite a bit from this site. Thank you so very much. Stephany

Hi Dr. Thank you for writing. My baby is doing good and both of the vets are pleased with her outcome. I am so happy and glad that people like you take the time to respond to others in need. She is looking good and neighs when she sees us or that she is getting her treats. Thank you so much...Rita

Thank you very much for writing back. I had the Vet out and it was his tendon he said give it a rest for two weeks and he should be fine. So I have another farrier coming the end of the month to change his shoes and put the ones he was used to, back on. Thanks again. Carol

Dear Dr Sales (May 2005)
I wish to thank you warmly for your message. I am very stressed about this and more to it as the horse is moving stables in exactly 5 days. He is full of blood and will on top of all this be nervous with the transport, new friends, new life and everything. I have taken next week off to stay with him and the 2nd horse the whole time to make sure they are fine.
I have transmitted it to the animal hospital in Bern for reference, the doctor I had on the line told me to get a direct diagnosis from a veterinary and offered to provide me with a list of specialists. I have, I believe, the best one here in Switzerland and have sent him a message to come back to check the horse again. I tried to trot him last night after 40 minutes walk, he did not want to and showed a limp, we did exactly 10 steps and then stopped, I wanted to see how it was. I checked before and after having ridden him last night, hooves, the coronary bands, the whole legs, even the elbows, absolutely no swelling and no difference in temperature, he never even showed a sign to tell me something was wrong somewhere. I'll let the vet come back; if he comes up with something different to your point of view, I'll transmit it back to you in case it may help you with another case.
Have a nice day
Cecilia
