For Herb Richardson (March 2006)
Thank you for the information, she is doing fine, she is not limping on it. I keep [it cleaned out, the frog is still attached there, but will it or is it suppose to come off, and if so what do I need to do, or be looking for?? Thank you very much for your help

Hello Dawn and thank you for your reply! (April 2006)
I will take your advice and consult a pro. I have riding since the age of 4 but have been out of it for 20 years. It's not like riding a bike!
I will follow your advice to the letter!
Once again, thank you.
Karen

For Dr Sales: (April 2006)
Thank you for the info and quick reply. Ronda.

For Billie McNamara (April 2006)
I cantered Gitano several times Saturday and Sunday and was delightedly dismayed to learn he does both leads. Dismayed because I've been an idiot for so long. I guess occasionally, for whatever reason he'll break into a pace, which is awful. Probably confusing signals from me.
Race on and thanks again!

Mr. Richardson, (March 2006)
Thanks! I will discontinue the iodine and get my farrier here. They are due for a trim now anyway. The feet do smell, like a real bad infection, but I will have him check next week when he is here. Thanks again! Denise C.

For Dr Kimberly Gryl (May 2006)
Thank you very much for your input and recommendations. I will try those methods.

For Heather Holmes (May 2006)
Thank you much for this information. We are looking at a young Paso Fino (5 yrs. old) that appears to be equally long in pasterns, front and back. He is a small horse (14 hands, 900#'s), but has WONDERFUL personality, is trained and is very sound in mind. He was imprinted at birth and he easily accepts almost anything, but does not like to be cross-tied. I have had a farrier tell me "not to touch him with a ten-foot pole!" Well, we would be buying him from a VERY reputable, knowledgeable Paso breeder who guarantees the horses that she sells. We are looking for something for our skinny, timid granddaughter who is 13 and will probably never weigh more than 100#'s in her lifetime; she's just little too. Her mom is tiny also. We learned about him thru a friend who knows the horse and says that he and Jamie would be met for each other. She will ride him, but probably not more than 2 or 3 hrs. daily and she will condition him because she is VERY into her horses already at her young age. Jamie has been riding since age 2 and is a VERY good rider. Grandpa and myself trail-ride almost every weekend all summer long and we also believe in conditioning our horses, they are never taken out on anything hard for them until they are ready. We are blessed to have 56 miles of really AWESOME conditioning trails about 17 miles from our home, some really easy for the first times out and then gradually increasing in difficulty. We start riding there in March and by mid-May we start camping and trail riding at our favorite areas. Jamie will be going with us on many of these trips. We do ride some rocky places, but we do shoe our horses and we do not over work them at anytime.
They are all "gaited" horses and they do have much more stamina than some of the other breeds we have owned in the past. That is why I thought that I would ask you what your opinion would be about the long pasterns. He has been vet-checked by two vets and they have both said that he's sound, but that the pasterns are just the way he is made.
They didn't think that it should be a problem and so far no one who has ridden him has noticed any problems with him.
Thanks again for answering my e-mail so quickly.
Shirley
