For Staff (October 2006)
Thank you for the great newsletter and for giving me something to do on the Internet. I love my horses and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I love having the ability to look up stuff on the net about horses and get answers to questions about concerns that I may have about my beloved animals. Thanks for being out there for me and my four legged friends!!!
Rose

For Dr Sales (October 2006)
I appreciate your reply, I was not sure if this question went through. Your time is deeply appreciated. I will continue watching it for any infection. I do not see any more drainage in the last five days. Do you think I can ride him for a little more exercise than hand walking/leading? I have lead him around with my other horse for thirty minutes every day the last week. He has not been lame at all the whole time since the accident, just a little tender or irritated when I was putting furro suave (yellow salve) so the drainage would not stick to his hair. I see some improvement, only swelling is just at where the vet cut him for drainage.
Thank you again,
Sue

Thank you for taking the time to look at my question. We have taken some x-rays and we have an appointment with Dr. Turner at the U of Minnesota I’m told he is the best in my area thanks again for your help. Josh

For Dawn Green (December 2006)
Thanks for the advice. I’ll try that and see if I can get it done. I appreciate your time. Mickey

Dr. Sales, (December 2006)
Just to let you know that my mare did test positive for trichomonas so we are going to try the treatment for this. Hopefully this will cure her! Thanks so much for absolutely everything!!!!

For Dr Bill Schurg (December 2006) Thank you Dr. Schurg for your prompt and helpful reply. We are investigating the complete feed options you have suggested with nutritionists from Shur-Gain and Co-op that are the primary feed companies we have available here. Unfortunately, we do not have the same variety of feeds from Purina that you do in the US (Nutrena is not available). All of our Purina feed has to be shipped in and often has quality problems due to aging as there is not much demand for "specialty" type feeds in this area although their normal blends of 12 &14% feed (molasses) generally has enough turnover to help prevent this.

It is reassuring to know that if I can find one, a complete feed would be the best solution. I have raised QH & TB horses for many years and have had a few feeding challenges due to "rescued" animals and youngsters but this one is new for me. At least this mare (other than the COPD) is relatively healthy and in good weight, which gives a little room for adjustment in her diet.

It is very generous of you to offer your expertise on this website and I thank you for taking the time to offer me a solution.

Best regards,

Susan

For Dr Kimberly Gryl (December 2006)
Thank you so much for the information. This confirms what common sense tells me is the right thing to do. Thank you again. Molli

Dr. Sales, (December 2006) Thank you so much for your prompt reply! I have been worrying a lot about this! You made me feel better about whether or not to keep her. If she were young I would be devastated! But at 18 years, I just didn't know what to do. My daughter likes her despite her negative behavior traits and I didn't want her to be slaughtered. Maybe we can work this out and keep her.

Thanks,
Nancy
