The survey only takes about 25 minutes to complete and seeks the opinions, preferences and needs of the public who participate in outdoor recreation in Arizona.

Results help decide where to spend outdoor recreation dollars and will help prepare the five-year Arizona SCORP plan. This will enable public land agencies to improve your outdoor recreation experience.

The draft SCORP plan is anticipated to be available for public comment by fall 2012.

SCORP is a requirement for Arizona to meet the provisions of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Act, a program created in 1965 to assist state and local governments in acquiring, developing and expanding outdoor recreation areas and facilities.

SCORP also serves as the state’s outdoor recreation policy plan. It is intended to guide outdoor recreation managers and decision-makers on policy and funding issues. While local, state and federal agencies have their own management plans that are used to guide the development and operation of outdoor recreation facilities and management of land and water resources, the SCORP is a mechanism by which the state’s recreational resources and management issues can be viewed collectively.
